About the EU Cities Gateway Community

The EU Cities Gateway Community connects cities and urban partners across Europe, the United States and Canada who want to learn from each other and collaborate on shared urban challenges.

Why join the EU Cities Gateway Community

Members gain access to peer exchange with cities and partners gain access to practical knowledge, peer exchange and new opportunities to connect with European and North American counterparts working on similar urban priorities.

Open to both current EU Cities Gateway cities and a broader network of partners — including alumni of the International Urban and Regional Cooperation (IURC) North America and cities engaged through the Global Covenant of Mayors — the Community provides a flexible space to exchange ideas, access knowledge and explore new opportunities for transatlantic cooperation.

A Shared Space for Transatlantic Urban and Regional Cooperation

The EU Cities Gateway Community extends the collaboration created through the EU Cities Gateway program by offering a simple and flexible way for cities and urban partners to stay connected beyond individual project cycles.

Rather than creating a new formal network, the Community provides an open space for exchange and cooperation among cities, regions, institutions and urban stakeholders in Europe, the United States and Canada. Participants can stay informed about EU – North America cooperation, discover practical solutions form other cities, and identify partners for future collaboration. The Community also connects current EU Cities Gateway cities with alumni of earlier EU initiatives and other partners interested in working with European cities on shared urban challenges.

Through this Community, participants can exchange practical experiences, discuss emerging urban issues, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Participation is informal and flexible. Cities and partners can engage in activities that match their interests and availability – from joining webinars, masterclasses and discussions to contributing knowledge, sharing experiences or connecting with peers working on similar challenges. This flexible approach allows participants to engage when it is most relevant for them – whether to learn from others, showcase their own experience, or explore new cooperation opportunities.
